It means the world to me to have you here. Thank you!
I'm Madina and I was born in Montréal to Guinean parents. Growing up, money was tight and thrifting helped dress us. Finding stylish clothes made me feel special. I developed a love for curated, meaningful pieces. I was also always drawn to the colors and patterns of wax textiles. I wished to see more of their artistry reflected in everyday fashion. To reimagine each wax as wearable art that would celebrate individuality.
The name Madina The People comes from a nickname my friends gave me. I’ve always been the one to bring people together. That spirit of community lives at the heart of everything I create.

About Madina the People
Madina the People reimagines genderless fashion with clothing that already exists and carefully sourced wax fabrics, and transforms them into something new and meaningful. By upcycling rather than producing from scratch, we reduce waste and extend the life of materials.
Our creations are one-of-a-kind or produced in a limited run of articles, depending on the availability of wax fabric. On many wax fabrics, a serial number appears along the edge. Each number identifies a unique design and production run. Once that batch is sold, the pattern is rarely manufactured again. Each numbered wax becomes a limited-edition textile.
With reworked garments and wax fabric, we create sustainable, original pieces that celebrate storytelling and pride. And more special than anything is seeing a piece call out to someone and witness how happy they are when they feel it is theirs. We follow one simple truth: style belongs to everyone. Our clothes are gender-neutral and for anyone to wear.
